Norto Removal Tool

I loaded norton Removal Tool but during the running process the program gets to a point that says processing MSIs by product code.
The program justs stalls and runs with this on the screen for hours. If I let the computer go into sleep mode while this is running it crashes.
Can anyone help me out with this.
I have tried this several times with the same result.

See, norton can't even uninstall itself.....geeze.

If it were my machine, I'd wipe it, but if you don't want to do that, you may have to manually uninstall it. I'm guessing you tried uninstalling it from add remove programs first?

One course of action is to install Norton anew, reboot, then run the uninstaller.

Another is to run hijackthis.exe and remove any reference to symantec. Then run msconfig and turn off anything in the startup section that refers to Norton or symantec. I recently had to do that on friend's computer to get rid of that beast.

It won't remove all remnants of the Norton application(s) from the hard drive, but at least it will stop Norton from running.
