Micro-Soft locked up my Media player?

A small window popped up asking to verify authenticity.
I accidentally selected it and Bamm unable to open since.
no MEDIA player anymore. Darn!
I bought this computor a few years back from a guy and he put an office group version of windows on this computor. I do have another legal version serial number. I talked to MicroS and should have given them that number instead? Now that I have already talked to them and am on record with this office version. IS there any way to fix this?

It doesn't matter if you talked to MS or not. You can put any OS on it that you like.

They say it's not supposed to work that way. They (MS) say that all they will do is let you know that you have an illegal copy and recommend you get a legal one. And I think they can stop the updates. But it's not supposed to stop it from working. Guess they lied

You could call back and give the other number. They get a bit tense at times, as I learned with the OS. I explained to the telephone person that I had several licenses for Win XP, and I have, so I could get another number for the reinstallation of the OS on one of the many computers that I have. Since I have more than one license per copy, he came around readily and did not want to argue.
