Question WiFi Connection

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop and use my wifi connection alot but am having problems lately.
I connect with wifi to a linksys wireless-B broadband router.
I stay connected at 11.0 mbps for about 15 to 20 minutes and then the connection is dropped down to 1.0 mbps, can anyone tell me whats the problem?

How far are you from the router? Is it on another floor?

Do you have a wired machine connected to the same router?

Things to try:
Do a hard reset on the router and set it up again,
install new drivers on the wireless card of your laptop,
reset the cable modem/dsl modem
Try a friends router (known working router)

If you have a wired machine that is connected to this router (that is disconnecting as well), temporarily take the router out of the loop and connect the machine directly to the modem.

I would try setting the router to a different channel first, something other than the default.
