Windows XP Pro Taskbar Problem

Having a small problem with taskbar. There used to be a ">>" symbol on the left hand side of the taskbar section which upon me cliking it would expand enabling me to see all my icons, but that symbol is no longer there and I event tried adding another icon via taskbar>properites>customize>past Items>Apply but to no avail. The extra icon will not show up in taskbar.

Right click on it and choose properties. See if it is hiding inactive icons.

Based on the description, it seems like you might be referring to the quick launch bar just to the right of the start button?

If that's the case, right click on the task bar and uncheck the "Lock the Taskbar" setting and see if that does what you want.
