LCD Monitor's screen keeps going off?

I Have a 21" Dell LCD monitor, and the screen keeps going off. The power indicator light stays on, but the screen just goes out. I can turn it off, and it usually will come back on, but sometimes it will go right back out after a couple minutes. It's like the sleep or power save mode is on, but I have them set to always on.

Test to see if the backlight is going out. Next time the screen goes black, hit the OSD (menu) button on the monitor. If that comes up then there is a connection problem. If the menu does not come up, then the backlight is probably bad (or it could be something else).

I think the cable is just a 15 pin VGA cable.

Kind of. I bought it on ebay, and I was stupid and bought that Squaretrade extended warrantee. It only cover cost up to the value of the price you paid for the item.
