Marc, are you using a wireless mouse with it? I used a cheap one once and it would do the same thing. Switched to the touch pad and it worked fine. Just a thought from a nail driver.

Hi Marc,

There are so many things that could cause this problem, for example- are you using IE when this happens? Try switching to Firefox for your browser.

If you're running multiple windows on a laptop, you just may not have enough memory.

Your best bet for resolution is to go to Microsoft.com and get tech support. Try the faq's first, but there'll be so many possibilities!

You can try to run in safe mode to ensure that it is not a driver problem.
I can help you but I will need some info such as

Processor , RAM, OS,
And if you have installed any new software before this happened.
Also , is this happening with all applications or it is only happening with the internet browser ?

When it bogs down, hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete to call up Task Manager.

You might see some entries in the "Applications" tab "Not responding" - which likely means they've crashed. So blame software, drivers, etc. BTW you can usually terminate an application through Task Manager ("End task") even when its window "X" is dead.

Check the "Performance" tab. This will show you if various apps simply gobbled up available memory. Heavy page file usage is a sure sign of that.

For routine maintenance to correct fundamental problems, using system file checker can correct file problems that develop over time. Here is a link to using this utility: http://vistasupport.mvps.org/system_file_checker.htm

Hope this helps.
