disable cap lock?
You guys have been good to me so far. Maybe it will continue.
Is there some way to disable the cap lock button on my keyboard. I accidently hit it way too often and it is a PITA. Running Windows XP ,but will have a new unit with (yipee?) Vista, so if it makes a diff, both if you know.
Thanks.

You can do it in the registry (a place I never go)

I just turn on toggle keys myself.....hold the 'Num Lock' key down for 5 seconds. The computer will beep if you hit the Caps Lock, Num Lock or Scroll Lock buttons.

oh come on. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. That's what recovery discs are for.
Just kidding but so far no problems.
Oh, wait, now I have to hold down the caps lock key just to type. Sucks typing with one hand and holding a key with the other.
THERE> IS THAT BETTER? DANG IT< NOW IT'S ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME NO MATTER WHAT I DO!!
just kidding. everything is still working fine.

Ooooh, much easier, Start, Control Panel, Accessibility options, Toggle keys, check it, apply, ok, and you're done. And I didn't have to go to the forbidden territory.

Yeah, but it's better than a sharp stick in the eye! At least it lets me know when I do it rather than let me type two lines in all caps and look dumb.

Although these are "remedies," there is certainly a way to disable your Caps Lock without going into the registry yourself.
John Haller describes on his site how to disable Caps Lock, however, he's been so kind to provide a registry file which all you have to do is open it and restart your computer to activate it.
I really do hope this helps all of those wishing to disable Caps Lock.
Respectfully yours.
