powering on problems

When i shut down my pc and disconnect the power the next time i connect the power and tries to start my pc the power light flashes and it does not power up.What can causes this problem?

How do you get it back on?

I have an IBM that does that when it first powers on. I have to wait 30 seconds or so before pressing the power buttong.

probably bad power supply. Try a known good one.

DVD/CR-RW drive only reads movie DVDs, not data CDs?

I have a Gateway laptop running Vista with a DVD-CD-RW drive that has stopped reading data CDRs, it doesn't recognize them. It reads and plays DVD movies without problem. I attempted to update the driver but Windows tells me it is the latest and greatest. The device manager lists the drive as HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20F ATA Device and Manufacturer: (Standard CD-ROM drives). Device Manager says it's functioning properly. Any ideas? Thanks.Read More

adding another cat 5 jack to the existing line

I am hoping someone can help me. I have a cat 5 jack in a room upstairs that runs downstairs to my router. The jack is on the right side of my room, we want to move the computer to the other side of the room. I really don't want to run a long cat 5 wire from the jack to the computer. I would like to make it professional like the jack is now, in the wall. I would like to jump the cat 5 wire off the existing jack to the new one at the other end of the room. I won't obviously have both jacks being used at the same time. Can this be done? I was think that if I pushed the wires as they are now into each slot then it would work as an exention, then I would have new jack at the other end. If anyone has insight I would greatly appreciate it.Read More
