Computer slowing down
My computer (Dell dimention 9200, OS Windows XP, 2 Gb ram) is becoming slower and slooower. I've tried unchecking some startup items in msconfig, cleaned and defragmented HD but it didn't help much. I think that the registry might need cleaning. Any suggestions on what I can do? Which software is good for cleaning and repairing the registry? Thanks,
Lilian

Did you check your computer for malware, spyware, etc?
Try Ad-Aware by Lavasoft, is free for personal use www.lavasoft.com
or
Spybot - Search & Destroy, also free www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html

What's the time frame? Does it get slower by the day or did you notice the change over several months?
If you noticed the change over the last couple of months so yes as crazycory22 said a disk cleanup, defrag, also remove items from your recycle bin, and uninstall unnecessary application. Those might help.

had the same issue with my Latitude. spybot search & destroy straightened it out. FileHippo.com - Download Free Software has a good selection of clean free downloads. that's where I got my copy of sb s&d. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
