sounds

I am running XP Home Edition. Well anyway my "sounds " have gone goofy. I know how to go to start, control panel, sounds and set as windows default. When I go to some of the individual sounds it shows a "sound" icon but when I click on it to verify or set it it says that the file is not found. In other words some of the "default" sounds are actually missing

Download and run anti malware from malwarebytes.org

It sounds like something is in there that doesn't belong.

sounds

I tried that and it didn't find (nor cure) anything. FYI I am running Kaspersky and Spyware Terminator. I went into the sound thingy and found an acceptable sound from the list and just turned that one on. (Don't even remember what it was named) I am just used to hearing something when I hit the "back" or "forward" button on my mouse (or the arrow on top of the browser...whichever). Thanks anyway. I really don't anticipate that I have a major problem.Beer 4U2

Try restoring to an earlier date as something in your registry may be corrupt. (Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore)
