Exclamation CD Rom trouble!!!! PLEASE HELP

Hi,
Everytime I tried to burn a CD, I would get an error message that the Cd was full (which it was not) I was told that it could be the optical eye or some such thing in the cd rom so I replaced it(the CD drive). Now I get the same message & sometimes the computer does not even recognize that there is a Cd or video in it!! What part of computer do I need to replace if not the CD rom?? PLEASE HELP
THANK YOU

If you have a CD-ROM, you can't burn CD's. You have to have a Writable CD. If this is just a terminology glitch, then what type CD's are you using? R or RW? Check the CD via My Computer to see if there is anything on it. You will occasionally get CD's that just won't take data.

Sorry, you are correct it's my terminology that is the problem!!
It is a Cd DVD burner the whole 9yards. But, I have always used the same DVDs & it's not an every once in awhile thing. I did some maintenance, like defrag / compress old files, such as that and now my discs(FRESH OUT THE PACKAGE) say they are full!!!!!!!! I'm sure that maybe- it is some little box somewhere that was checked before & should be checked and now is not , or vice versa, but I just don't know what to even begin to do to find out. I got this error before "disc full or not writable" that is when I was told to change out the burner thingy! now still the same thing!
HEY THANKS for your interest!

Before you replace anything i would make shure that all your conections are fully seated and that your drivers didnt take a dirt nap. Also go old school Nintendo on that machine turn it off disconnect the power and clean it out with some compressed air. You would be suprised how often that can destroy a machine.
