No home network

Have a Linksys router 2 wired and 2 wireless computers. All can get on internet but I can not set up a home network. Network used to work fine but stopped a few months ago. None of computers can see any of the others. All have sharing set to share. I know I am missing something have not been able to find problem. Went to Linksys help and they were no help. Thanks in advance.

Can you ping the other machines? Launch a Command Prompt. (Start/Run... Type cmd in the window and click Okay.)

Type ipconfig and press Enter. Jot down the IP address. (Four numbers separated by dots.)

Now go to another machine and launch a Command Prompt. Type ping, a space, and the IP address of the first machine. If the first machine responds you have connectivity. It's not the router.

WinxP? The network setup wizard doesn't do a complete job. Control Panel/Network Connections/LAN/Properties. Manually enable the Client for Microsoft Networks. Sometimes you also have to enable File & Print Sharing in that section.

I can find all my ip address but when I try to ping any of the computer I get a request timed out. Forgot to mention that 3 are on XP and 1 laptop is Vista. I could reinstall network client but I am guessing that all 4 did not stop. just updated driver on the computer that has the printer connected and did not change anything. Still cannot ping other computers

A Firewall ( Windows or Anti Virus) could cause this symptom.

Firewall was the problem. Found a setting that lets me have my network. Last problem is I have 1 laptop with vista, I can connect from Vista one but when I try to connect from any other to the vista I get message I don't have permission. Have shared everything I can and still get message.
