How to make an MP3 cd??

Hello all,
I would like to make a cd w/ a big playlist on it. I have a aftermarket cd player in my truck that accepts mp3, a usb drive, and many other formats. I tried my usb thumb drive but it wouldn't read it. Not sure why!! I think b/c I have other stuff on there like documents.
Anyway do I need a special cd? I have a stack of sony 80min. cdr's here. THANKS

You do not need a special CD. You just need to set your software to burn MP3 instead of CD audio.

I know in iTunes it is sorta hidden in the preferences menu.

If your burning software gives you a choice, select "Data CD" instead of "Audio CD".

if you have xp, you can drag/drop your mp3's onto a blank cd then later chose the option to burn to disk. not sure if xp sp1 supports it.

Well, I tried burning an mp3 cd through itunes, and out of the 80 some songs 66 of them wouldn't burn. A notice came up saying that the 66 songs are in a format of mp4 or something to that nature. How can I convert every song I have to an mp3 format??

I then tried to burn just a data cd, and I kept those 80 some songs and clicked burn. It started and was done in about 5 minutes. So I went to my vehicle to play it and only had 18 songs on there. So is there a program that is free or cheap to buy to convert these songs to all mp3 format?

THANKS

itunes can convert them to mp3, assuming that you didn't buy them through the itunes music store. if you did buy them through the iTMS, the easiest thing to do is burn them to a regular audio cd, and then re-import them to your computer as an mp3.

WOW!! I did buy about 15 cds that I have on itunes from the store!! Can I transfer them to my external hard drive and them convert them to mp3. I just wanna get a program and take all my music and convert them all to mp3. Even some cds that I did not buy on itunes are the mp4 format.
thanks
