monitor problem
I have a Viewsonic 17" LCD that is 4 yrs. old which has gone very dim on me. I recently put everything in a new case & installed a new graphics card. The card is a GeForce 9600 gso 768MB. I had to use the adapter to connect my monitor to it as it has the new Dual-Link DVI outputs & no vga outputs. I am running Vista Home Premium with 2G ram. My question; is it possible that my current power supply (300W) is not strong enough or maybe having to use the adapter is causing this issue, or is the monitor going bad allready? I contacted Viewsonic & they weren't much help as everything they told me to try I allready had. It does get a little brighter as it warms up but not like normal. What do you think?

Can't imagine the PC affecting the briteness of the monitor. Easy way to tell...bring up the On Screen Menu on the monitor with the input cable off..if it still looks dim..yup..monitor.
We got all new monitors at my old job...w/i 6-8 months they were all so dim they were almost impossible to see. They weren't accounting for the fact we didn't turn them off and the screensaver function had been disabled by the corporate IT types.

The input cable won't come off the monitor so that won't work. Guess I was naive to think it would last longer. I also heard Viewsonic was a good brand. Any recomendations?

Well, I meant just disconnect the cable from one end or the other...just take it off the PC.
My wife has a 22" Viewsonic...going on 3 yrs old...still working great.
