Going back to previous I E version

Stupid me, I was having a problem of not being able to install "Active X controls" and I thought by the message that it had to do with the version of IE that I had (IE7). So, I upgraded to IE8. That was not the problem. I want to go back to IE7. Tried to download IE7, but it won't do it casue I have IE8. My 2 questions are:
1). How do I go back to IE7?
2). How do I get "Active X controls" installed?
Thanks.

Don't know why you would want to go back to IE7. ActiveX controls are installed automatically, or you have to click on a bar at the top when it is called for. You won't have all this problem if you switch to Firefox. Too cool and none of the goofy stuff from Microsoft.

So far I like IE 8 much better than 7.. faster and supposed to be more secure.

But if you want to remove it, go into the control panel, Add/Remove Programs. Find "Windows Internext Explorer 8" and click "Remove".
