Try saving it to a folder on C and then burn the DVD. Delete the files off of C when the DVD is verified.

ok copyed it to the HD and then tried to copy it to the D drive. it won't burn it to a DVD it wants a CD but there is over 6GB of data to be written and only 702MB on the CD. is there a way to split it over serveral CDs or force it to write to 2 DVDS. it won't burn do to not enough space on the CD.

Were you trying to make a video DVD? It should have been a data DVD. Can you burn any DVDs? The burner may need a new driver or firmware, or it went bad.

i don't know i went to backup files using nero, I put a blank DVD in and after a minute the laptop ejected it saying please insert a CD. media required for this backup CD-R. didn't see a data DVD option. the computer says the drives a CDRW/DVD. does that mean it burns to CDs but can only play DVDs. it plays dvds just fine.

It appears that you don't have DVD write capabilities on that drive.
