Laptop On Lockdown

I purchased a used Dell Latitude D800 on ebay. I received the computer this past Monday. I was finally able to gain access to the internet after setting up a router. So the first thing that I did was update her security and do the microsoft update. After completion, I rebooted the computer. I received the error message WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/SYSTEM on Windows startup. It prompted me to insert the Windows CD and click "R" to repair. I turned off the computer went out to locate Windows Professional, but when I returned and rebooted the computer again I got a new error message "Primary hard disk drive 0 not found". I clicked Ctrl+Alt+Delete and it said that I need a password for the hard drive.

I did some research on each of these matters individually, but I am hearing that it's virtually impossible to get the computer out of lockdown, just to see what the problem is. Any suggestions?

You can't get in the bios on start-up? F2 On Dell, maybe at boot?

I personally would have formatted the PC first before I did anything on it.

If you didn't have any files of importance on it, that is actually what I would do in this situation.

Flashing the bios and replacing the hdd would get rid of any lockdown.
