gateway lx6810-01

i have a gateway lx6810 pc that keeps shutting down by itself, opened case and found no case fans to cool also i read that i would need to change to higher power supply to install fans . i also read should get a better cpu fan to . my question is what size power supply (have 400w installed.) WHAT SIZE FANS AND where to put them,exhaust to back? and what is a good cpu cooler to install thanks k

Are you running a gamer's video card? If so, a couple of 12vdc muffin fans -- one in the front as the intake and one in the back as the outlet -- shouldn't tax a 400-watt power supply.

The CPU already has a fan on it. Make sure its tines are not blocked by dust.

If you run the box with the sides open the fans will have little effect. In that case, just put a 20" box fan next to the box.

The cooling fans do not take up a lot of power. U can add fans without upgrading the power supply.
