Hello
If you do a search and find a program such as Windows Defender that I removed some time ago, does it do any harm to delete it in this search box?
Thank you

What type search box? If you are talking about the one when you do Start-Search, then you didn't remove all the program. Do Start-Control Panel- Add/Remove Programs and remove it if it is still there. Sometimes using the product's own removal tool will leave residual stuff on the computer.

Sometimes you remove a program via add/remove but when you start > search you still find the name here.
I wondered if it did any good to remove the name from the search box.
This happened with Windows Defender.
After removing it via add/remove I saw in in my startup manager so I did a search and there it is.
Before removing it I was asking if I should with no harm.

Not all entries are removed from the Registry, so bits and pieces are often left behind. It doesn't hurt to remove them manually.
Windows Defender is pretty good to have IMO. Not sure why you removed it. The more protection your computer has, the better.

Thanx guys. I'm off to remove these remnants.
Don't forget to disable real time protection with Windows defender if you have it running on another program; there should only be one running and many programs offer it.
