Switch from Vista 2 XP

I purchased a Dell laptop two years ago with Vista loaded on it. Well, I really don't like Vista because of all the hick-ups right now. I wiped my hard drive and tried installing XP. THe installation did not complete because of an error. Is there anything I should do? Am I missing drivers? Is there an issue with loading XP on a box that was configured and manufactured for a Vista load? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

What was the error? Did you load from a back up disk or a full load disk?

possible SATA driver issue

if the error was SATA related
then you need to have the SATA drivers ( on a CD ) or slip stream the drivers into your XP
XP with SP2 or SP3 will have the SATA drivers intact

or in your BIOS

bios-->system configuration-->SATA Native Support-->changed enabled to DISABLED

then try, sometimes it will work, sometime it will not

have your drivers on a usb or cd for post XP install

especially video, LAN, wifi, chipset

I have converted my 2 year old Toshiba a 215 and a Compaq C700 to XP

You need to go into device manager and look up the model number of your sata controller.
Downalod the drivers, and nlite (google it) them into the installation cd, and re-burn.

Then go onto dell and download drivers for graphics etc.
