Question live messenger

running windows -x/p home
every time i start the p/c-it automaticly starts-'windows live messenger' & a program- 'msn today'
i do not use either of these & have tried several attempts to dissable them with no luck!
i use 'verizion dsl with msn' to go to my home page & email
these 2 programs are slowing things down- how can i stop them from loading automaticly?
ANYONE!

For one thing you said you dont use msn but you have it as your home page, therefor you must be using it. change your home page, as far as windows live messenger goes, try this first uncheck "msnmsar" from "msconfig" then this>>>
To uninstall Windows Messenger, from Windows XP:
1. Close all application that link to Windows Messenger.
2. Open a CMD.EXE prompt.
3. Type the following command and press Enter:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %SystemRoot%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove4.

If all applications that link to Windows Messenger were closed, a restart is NOT required, but I would restart anyway

Go to "run" on your startup button and type "msconfig", then click on the "Startup" tab and uncheck the "windows live" button.
Now it shouldn't automatically load. This will be easier than trying to uninstall it.
