Very Weird Wireless Problem

Ok I have three computers connected to my belkin router via Wireless. None of the three computers can keep a connection to the router. As long as the router and computers are in the apartment. Take the router and computers out of the apartment and they all work fine. Two computers are desktops, and one is a laptop. The desktop computers are connecting using Netgear WG111 USB Dongles, and the laptop is connecting with Intel Pro 10/100/1000 built in wireless. As I said the problem only occurs when the router and the computers are in the apartment, and I know it's not the router because I've tried a different router and got the same results. What could the issue be?

Wild card guess. Do you have cordless phones in the apartment? If so, unplug them and remove the phone batteries. It may cure your problem. If not, it's one thing you can rule out. I had some 2.4 cordless phones tearing up another wireless device. Changing phones to a model with a different frequency cured it.

The phones are the DECT 6.0Ghz phones. And it was working fine after the phones were put in. I ruled out the microwave, and phones. I don't know of anything else that it could be. I don't know if it helps but when the router was in my girl friends room, it wouldn't even send a wireless signal out. Only after i moved the router from her room did it start broadcasting. It's done that with every router i've put in her room.

Seems like it's working but overloaded. Got neighbors ganking onto the signal? Do you have the MAC filtering enabled on the wireless router?

No I don't have MAC address filtering turned on. I just have WEP right now. When I log into the router from the computer that is hard wired it only shows the three wireless computers, and of course the hard wired computer. So would it be wise to turn on MAC address filtering?

Turning on MAC address filtering can prevent someone else from connecting to your router and hence improve your network security. But I doubt if it has anything to do with the problem. It seems very clear to me that the problem is related to the location. It has to be due to some kind of interference with the signal. Were the router and any of the computers in the same room when you had the problem? If you can get a connection in the same room, maybe something is preventing the signal from travelling through the wall.

Again the only thing that I would remotely consider interfering is my girlfriends mothers cell phone. It has BlueTooth enabled, but I have sporadic connectivity even when her phone isn't in the apartment. The BT on my phone is shut off, and the BT on the gf's phone is shut off as well. Right now I'm running on Channel 6, and using NetStumbler, I've concluded that everyone else is either on channel 10 or channel 1.
The cordless phones here are DECT 6.0 so I'm going to assume that they are running on the 6.0Ghz band, and shouldn't interfere with the 2.4GHz wireless band. It does it regardless if the microwave is running or not. When I log into the router it shows that there are only three computers connected, two wireless which would be two of the desktops, and one hard wired, which would be the gf's moms computer, so I'm also going to assume that no one has hacked into the router. So I'm at a loss. As far as connections in the same room, it's still sporadic, and it does it with any router I have in there. So it has to be something with this apartment. Whether it's a power problem or what. Any other suggestions guys?
