Question Disable Auto Restart In XP???

Couple power failures today, less than a second each time. Seems to me I've read this is real bad for a hard drive and mine is nine years old.

So, until the new battery comes for my UPS I've disabled auto restart.

Good idea or not?

Thanks,

Baldwin

Yeah if you want to manually restart it with each power failure. New battery should help, though.

My old computer had problems with the power button. My daughter didn't know this and ruined that drive by starting, stopping and starting again in quick succession.

Something about the heads bouncing around and damaging the drive. I'm thinking if the power goes out with no restart everything can come to a stop then I can restart it again after a minute or two.

Makes sense to me.....I think!

Thanks,

Baldwin
