Copy Favorites from Vista to Xp

I have spent hours searching the Internet on how to copy favorites (IE7) from Vista to XP. I've tried all suggestions and still nothing. I get a message about an invalid file. If you've done this successfully I would appreciate giving me the steps to follow. Thanks.

Sure, it's very easy!

On the Vista PC go into your "user" folder either via the desktop or your Start Menu. This folder is named whatever your user account is named.

See the "Favorites" folder? Simply copy that whole folder to a USB flash drive or whatever.

Now put it in the XP system. Copy this folder into the C:\Documents and Settings\<whatever your user account name is> folder. This will merge it with your current Favorites.

That's all there is to it!

Aaron, I tried it but it didn't work. Could I have missed something? I know that it is simple from all the other things I read. Could it have something to do with Vista to XP? Thanks for your help.

If that doesn't work, you either aren't doing something right or there's something wrong with the system.

No offence, of course!

The user account names are not the same. Could that be the problem?

No, that would not matter. All the favorites files are, are .url files.
