Move songs from I-Pod back to computer?

My hard drive on my computer went bad, so I put in a new hard drive, and re-installed the operating system (XP) and the software for I-Tunes. But now I have songs on my I-Pod that are not in I-Tunes on my computer. If I plug in my I-Pod, the songs on it will be erased because I-Tunes now has nothing on it, and the two will sinc up. How do I get the songs from the I-Pod to the I-Tunes library on my new hard drive?

Thanks.

To my knowledge, you can't

I moved itunes to a different computer a couple years ago and could not find a way to do this, I ended up copying the library on the PC

I now include the itunes library in my regular backup process in case I lose the drive

The Ipod doesn't want you to do this. Luckily there are a few workarounds. Seems silly doesn't it?
