Wireless Security

I am currently setting up a wireless router to be able to use my Dell Latitude D600 laptop anywhere in the house.
For security I currently use AVG Antivirus Free and Microsoft Firewall.
In setting up the Linksys (WRT54GS) Wireless router, it offers me the ability to install Norton Internet Security Suite.
So my questions are:
- Is my current security enough for safe wireless internet access?
- If it is not, and I do install the Norton option, am I going going down the road of having to renew a Norton subscription every year?
- If it is not, are there any options, preferably free, to Norton available.

FYI - In the past, I have had very bad experiences with Norton and I finally ended up wiping my hard drive and reinstalling without them.

Thanks.

You won't need Windows firewall, as the router is your firewall, and don't put Norton or Mcafee in the mix. They only cost money and act like 2 year olds competing for the same toy.
