Weird way to connect to my wireless network

Windows Vista.....Netgear WGR614v7 with the latest drivers and firmware. At times it disconnects and for me reconnect I have to do the following if not it will not connect to my network. I must connect, with no problem, to an Unsecured Network, which shows up on my list of networks available. Then I disconnect from that network and connect to mine with no problem 95% of the time. The unsecured network signal is very low and mine is medium. What is going on? Thanks.

This is a common problem with Windows Vista. I actually have the same issue. So I have two solutions and neither is idea.
1. go to your network settings and select your hardware that you use to connect to your router. (Ethernet card for me). Then disable and re-enable and it should work.

2. I have also set up another user account and in that user I set up a program that runs continuously. This prevents my computer from I assume losing connection to my router in sleep mode.

If anyone has any other fixes i'd like one.
