Which free malware/antivirus/spyware do I beleive?

I use Avast, Malwarebytes, Adaware and just added Spyware doctor.

Avast and Bytes say no virus or malware found. Adaware will find harmless items and remove them.

Spydoc will find quite a few adware and tracking cookies, but also claims there are trojans on my system, but won't remove them unless I pay for the software.

Which do I believe?

Don't trust spy doc....thats just advertising.

You're good with what you have otherwise. Get did of spydoc and try Spyware Blaster or Spybot Search and Destroy. I've had good luck with those.

Removed Spydoc and downloaded and installed Spybot. Found a couple trojans and other junk and removed.

Thanks for the tip.

I used to use AVG until it turned into the resource hog it claimed to be the alternative to on version 8.0

I switched to Avast and haven't had a problem

IMO... use Malwarebytes and then SuperAntiSpyware (both free) Download them (download.com) and make sure they are updated. Then boot to safe mood then run Malwarebytes (full scan) then reboot to safe mode again and run SuperAntiSpyware.. this should take care of 99% if PC problems....
