IP Webcam on a Wireless Router

I use a wired IP webcam on a long cat5E cable for a live feed of bird nests in our yard.

Thanks to many other hobbies that blow our budget a quality wireless cam is not possible right now.
What I am wondering is if a network cam can be connected directly to a wireless router and the router without being connected to a computer broadcast to the network.

I did try to set it up but in doing so messed up my network settings and I won't try again if it is not doable.

It is possible provided the cam is capable of standalone operation as a network device.

All you should need to do is assign it an IP address and port, and tell the router to forward that port.
