Internet Radio Music Stream Momentary Cuts Out??

Hello,

I listen to music via internet radio stations on my laptop. Regularly, the music stream gets iterrupted and momentarily cuts out, even more so when Im surfing while listenig to internet radio. Sometimes,I hear the audible clicking sound associated to when the screen is refreshing itself. Can you please explain why this occurs and if I can correct it.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A15 laptop. Intel Celeron Processor(2.4GHz). 240MB RAM. 27.5 GB of free space. Windows XP OS. My internet provider is ATT DSL, advertised speed is 3.0bps. I ran a speed test. Download speed was 2520kps. Upload speed was 416kps. I use the wireless modem provided by ATT along with an EnGenius USB wireless booster. I use Windows Media Player and it is currently set to a buffer speed of 5 seconds. Can I do anythig to minimize/prevent the internet radio station music interuptions, especially when Im surfing while listening to online music radio?

Thanks,
Ken

host site

it might be out of your hands
if the site has only so much bandwidth or a given amount of users
you get drop outs
you dsl speed is adequate
but it's on the edge for surfing and streaming
keep in mind despite what they may have told you
you dsl line may be dedicated
but it does share a pool with other dsl users
and that, like cable modem users, means the more people surfing and downloading
the more chances of drop outs
i am on fiber optic ( 15/ 5 )
and i still get the occasional stalls on youtube at basic 320 resolution
and i know it not my connection
i stream netflix all day long with virtually no problems on my laptop wireless ( while downloading in the background )
