Very Slow to open Home-Page and Other Web-Pages

Hi:
XP/IE 7

Recently, the PC is very slow to open Home-Page and some of web-pages, as well.

I did 'error-check,' 'defrag' and unchecked 'un-needed' programs, i.e., printing, virus-program and etc. by accessing Msconfig/start. However, the problem still persisting, ... it's very slow to open.

Until last week, Home-page and all other web-pages opened up in normal speed or even very quickly. It appears to me that this issue, a slowness of the PC started after some eBay search, but I'm not sure.

How to make the PC getting back to the original/normal speed?

Thanks for any helps.

Try upgrading to IE8 or IE9. I think IE7 isn't working too well anymore.
You could also d/l Firefox, which is faster than IE.
Also, go into Internet Options, under Tools, and delete your browsing history.

I agree with the deleting of browsing history and cache. I also agree with downloading Mozilla Firefox. However I do not agree that Internet Explore 8 would be any better. I still have compatibility problems with explorer 8 and Explorer 9 will only run with Windows 7 if I heard correctly.
Go to the tools on the explorer and internet options and delete browsing history and cache and see how that helps. Have you ran a malware scan lately?

Not clear if you actually stopped your AntiVirus or not but thats a very bad idea. Many AV programs can slow things down when they get an update.

What AV and antispyware are you using? Any time mine starts to slow down a lot, thats the first thing I run to see if I caught something. Also, mine will occasionally start to slow down if I haven't done a cold start in a while....the memory just starts getting used up.

btw..IE8 works fine with XP...much better than 7. Haven't had any real issues.

Didn't catch that you unchecked your anti virus program. Yes, bad move. You can pick up all sorts of nasty stuff withOUT one running.
Which one are you using? Some of the non free ones slow a computer down and if that's the case, switch to a free program.

I think she meant "withOUT one running". Never ever go online w/o some sort of up to date AV program running.

Sometimes the server is not operating to capacity or there are just too many people doing what you want to do at the same time. Necessary maintenance adds to the periodic problems.

I just try different sites since I am impatient when it comes to wasting my time, which I have too much of.

Try doing a system restore to a date when the computer was working fine.
