I heard that you can defrag a system in safe-mode, much faster then in normal-mode.

My question is, how do you reboot the computer into safe mode? or exit normal-mode onto safe-mode?

What are the key strokes?

Running Win98

If I remember right, you hold down the F8 key when the windows startup screen appears. This will take you to a menu, with an option of starting up in Safe Mode. Scan Disk also runs much faster in Safe Mode.

If you go to Start - Help, and in the Index, type SAFE, it will take you to detailed instructions on startup in Safe Mode.
