Question: W98-Outl.Exp.5

Help!!!!!

Recently went from DOS to W98-OE-5 and learning fast, but this has me ripping my hair out! UGH



I am considered an expert in HTML, have written a couple simple HTML sig files for my OE. Images show, but midis do not play. I saved them on my C-Wind directory, noppers....then saved them to one of my many web "condos" (storage for html pgs,images,etc.) noppers.

Used autostart=faster AND fastest BOTH, and neither worked........wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

What IS the problem????

I assume your sound card does function perfectly, and in the settings the midi pot is not turned down all the way or muted, double click on the volume symble in the bottom right (systems box) , you should have displayed several volume controls, make sure the pots/levels are up and nothing is muted, there should be a midi pot there also make sure the pot is up and not muted. Check this first.

With a lot of multimedia files, each format has to be associated with a perticular application to run it. For examply when you click on a jpeg it opens explorer and displays the jpeg, if your click on lets say an mp3 file it opens up the application that the computer knows to be associated with that file and load the file and plays it. It may be the same problem with midi files , the computer has to know what application is assoc. with it. That could be the problem is that windows has not got any reference in the system to know what to do with a midi file.

Check what I said in the first paragraph first then repost your findings, and we will proceed from there.

 

oh , one more thing, is there any error message or display that comes up when a midi file should be playing.
