Back up two PCs on one external hard drive?

Question Back up two PCs on one external hard drive?

I have a Western Digital external harddrive. I have used it to backup my Dell desktop PC I want to use the same ext HD to back up my laptop.. What kind of problems can I get myself int doing this? Want to keep both backup files on it.

I personally see no problems at all if you do just a manual backup of files and don't rely on any special software of any kind or on Windows Backup. I would just label the files with one being Desktop and the other being Laptop. Have a nice day!

Follow hedgeclippers advice and make sure you're not trying to exceed the capacity of the drive.

Shouldn't be a problem.

If the drive is over a terabyte you might consider using something like clonezilla to do full system image backups as well.
