Vista Explorer Window

Had to re install Vista and now I have on the Explorer window these blue lines as per attached pic (A-H (1), I-P (3), etc,) which are annoying and cant find out how to delete them. Never had them before and dont know their use either.

Anyone knows how to delete them?

Do you see what looks like a formatting box, over on the right side? Or maybe an options box? You should be able to change "the view" from there. Change it to "List" or "Icons" or "Details".

I have 7, but I imagine Vista is similar (I don't remember anymore).

Yes I know about the View menu which has a few options like small / large icons, tiles etc. I tried all of them and the one I always use is "Details" which provides the file size, type and date created of each file and that's the only one which gives these blue lines.

The other settings do not have the blue lines but they are not what I use. I always use the "Details" settings and never had them before.

I also try the "Folder Settings" but nothing there is related to these lines

hi kolias -

If you right click in the pane you should get this list:

View
Sort By
Group By
Stack By
Refresh
...

If you pick "Group By" you will get another list with "Name" at the top and "(None)" a little farther down. Selecting "Name" gives you those blue lines with the files sorted into alphabetical groups. If you select "(None)" it turns the option off.

As far as I can tell clicking on a blue line lets you select the entire group at once. So I guess thus a shortcut?

But if you already knew this and really just meant the format of the lines then .... never mind!LOL
