Pin Connections DVD-CD Drive
Hi everyone.
Sorry if i posted this in the wrong category. I would like to connect a 6-pin transformer to a 5-pin connector from an external dvd-rom. Here's a picture of the two connectors:
Is it possible? If yes how to wire them? Thanks in advance for you answers.

How to connect?
I usually cut off the connectors and solder/splice the wires since it's difficult to find the connectors to make up an adapter.

Yes, i intend to do that, but i have 6 wires ( first image, which is the transformer) to be soldered/spliced in only 5 places ( the external dvd-rom's connector) , i don't know how to match them and which one to left out.

If you can't find a diagram that shows what the pins on your DVD connector you could be out of luck. The ones on the power supply are pretty easy to figure out with a volt meter but the DVD end is tough. Have you Googled for your brand and model DVD to see if someone has posted info on the connector?

Just FYI, it's usually easier and much better to replace the whole cable and to do the soldering work inside the device where the cable hooks to the circuit board. These look like PS/2 cables that were just reused for a different purpose, so getting cables from old keyboards or mice should be fairly easy.
