CD-ROM can't read disc

My problem is that a few days ago, I created a disc on my moms computer. (she has Windows 7,64 bit).
Now, when I put the disc into my computer (I have XP, 32 bit) the drive won't recognize it at all. It's icon remains empty.
At first I thought the drive was bad but I loaded an old disc (created on my machine) into it and it worked fine.
I tried it on my neighbors computer, she has Windows 7, and it came up.

What's going on?

Thanks

Dan

Is this a DVD or DVR Or CD type format disc?

Your drive isn't recognizing the format of the disc. Either its the type of disc OR the way the disc was formatted by your moms computer software. As well, sometimes I have seen drives not recognize a disc if it was a re-writable disc rather than a writable disc.

Oooops

I'm sure that's right.

Hers is a DVD and mine is a CD.

I was looking around and external DVD drives are about $20-$30.

Oh well, I've been a good boy this year.

Santa will get it for me.

Thanks
