My Documents is Empty, How to rescue all of documens accumulated in My Documents

Hello:
'My Document' is empty two days after I attempted to transfer music/songs from Real-Payer to Media Player. Apparently, there got 'conflict' between those music programs. Besides, it didn't work at all. No transfer accomplised. Only I got is this big 'mess' losing contens of My documents.

How to rescue 'contents' that are words, My Pictures, My Music and all of those accumulated in my Documents.

Any help would be truly appreciated.

Thanks,

Seems unlikely that they just vanished, and likely that they are all hiding in the same place. I would go into Windows Explorer or My Documents, set the parameter for the C drive in order to search everything on the hard drive, and do a search for a file that I knew the name. Then go to the folder that it is in, and you will probably find the rest of them.

That doesn't make sense. Neither are places where files are stored. They are only programs to access files. You do not move or copy files you simply change the default application to handle the files. The files remain in the same folder. If you detail the exact procedure you did perhaps some of the Windows users can better help you.

Search

Search for .doc files extensions to find your Word documents.

Does Windows recognize asterisk as a wild card? If so try "*.doc" (no quotes).

You can search in Windows for just .doc, no wildcard needed.

Thanks all for the responses and suggestions.

There are NOthing in My Document which is supposed to have three categories, ... 'My Pictures,' My Music,' along with documents/Words. doc. .... I got all of Words, for that I appreciate, but still no My Pictures and 'My Music.'

How to rescue 'My Pictures' and 'My Music?'

Thanks,

I've never used any player or viewer that wouldn't search for files on it's own. You may have to tell it to, but most do it automatically. Once it finds them you can usually right click on the icon or file and look at properties.

Looking at Windows Media Player it will do that as well although it appears it just looks in the standard folders? Now, if those folders were somehow actually deleted (do not show at all under My Documents)...the content may indeed be gone? If your recycle bin is not set to save the folders and files if they are deleted I think they may be gone for good. Possibly some 3rd party software could recover them.

Would doing a system restore to the day before they disappeared work?

I thought SR only dealt with program type issues?

Yep...just programs and settings....What types of files does System Restore change?

I'm curious where the Word docs were found as well.
