Dave,

First, do you have an anti-virus running and is it current? Run a scan.
Two, are you using Adblock +?
Three install SPYBOT S&D and MALWAREBYTES. They both have free versions.

What browser are you using? I recommend Firefox not IE. Make sure your browser is set to dis-able pop-ups.

What platform (OS) are you using? Win XP, Win 7 or Win 8.1

Suggestion...Uninstall your browser. Re-install and get those programs I mentioned above.

Follow through on the other 2 suggestions. Get AdBlock Plus and disable pop-ups using "Tools" , "Options", "Content" in the menu bar at the top of FF.

Try running SuperAntiSpyware also (the free version). That'll find things the others didn't.

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

I hope you try SuperAntiSpyware that Becky(Shadeladie) pointed to it really is a great program and you don't run out of time using the free version like you do with Malewarebytes. I also found in using both programs that SuperAntiSpyware was really all I needed along with Microsoft Security Essentials which is also free.

MSSE is still supported but only through July 14, 2015 here is a link that discusses that Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows . I strongly suggest that since the op is still using Windows XP that he moves on to another operating system like Linux or Windows 7 depending on his budget and needs.

Oops...sorry about that. I hadn't got any notices of updates like usual...but I was thinking of OS updates. I get a warning message every time I re-start, but MSSE is indeed up to date. Still, with the OS not being patched up...not a good thing.

Another thing you want to run considering you had a confirmed adware infection is called AdwCleaner. You can always get the latest version here - it's updated every few days.. Downloading AdwCleaner

The author is French, so don't get concerned that some of the installation prompts and the help file are in French. But the main GUI is in English. Run the program, click the Scan button and let it do its thing. Then when it's done click Clean. It will want to reboot when it's done cleaning, and then it will open a log of what it cleaned out. This one will get things even SAS misses, like the pesky Conduit search hijackers, the almost undeletable Ask Toolbar, etc.
