chosing printing in color/black and white

I couldn't print my pictures in B/W on my printer till a friend suggested using
'control P'. previously, my pictures were coming out in color.

I'm fuzzy on how to repeat this, and need a explanation, description

thanks

It depends on how you're printing your pictures. You didn't say what program you are using but generally using the happy print button will poop out a picture without control options to your default printer. In many programs if you go to the file menu and select print then you get to choose a printer and the print options.

Also pay attention if you use other programs to print. Avery's label software has a bad habit of changing your pint defaults whenever you use it.

Ctrl+P is simply the standard Print keyboard shortcut across multiple programs and OSes. It has nothing to do with mono or color. However that choice may be under Options in the interface it triggers.

Thanks ray and Dane for your replies.

I think I found the problem in my desk top computer printer menu.
After clicking on the "printer desktop icon",and searching the different menu choices,
I was able to print in B/W, or color.

Saves a lot of color ink now

Many thanks again

Ya, I miss my color, but they are slow and the ink is outrageously expensive. I switched to printing through my B/W digital copier. I can hook up one of my color printers, but in 3 years have never bothered and I'm sure the ink is toast by now.
