"My Pictures" folder no longer under library listing, how do I fix this?
Window 7 32 bit.
I am logged on as usual. I am administrator user. I have had this computer for over a year. I some how dragged or accidently deleted something and now if I pull up Explorer to show folder listing on left side of screen I have the usual listed under "Libraries", there is "Documents", "Music", "Pictures" and "Videos". But the problem is that under Pictures, the folder "My Pictures is no longer there.
The folder is still on the computer because I can open it if I go under "Computer"then "C drive" then "Users" and open it under Ken.
All of "My Pictures are in this file too. Whatever I did only effected "My Pictures" not "My Music" or anything esle.
I tried doing a restore to a restore point from the other day but that didn't fix whatever I have done.
Also at the top of the Explorer screen If. I click on "Pictures" under "Libraries" There is a message at the top of the screen that states:
"Some library features are unavailable due to unsupported library locations. Click here to learn more...."
I am hesitant to do anything else till I here from someone as to what I may have done. I am hoping that it is something that I can easily undo.

I don't think you did anything wrong either but maybe somehow you moved your pictures files. I will make a suggestion that will actually have pictures in two places on your hard drive, your current location and the new old location which you can name it anything. Look to where your pictures are currently and go to the top of the page where it says Organize or Edit depending on where you are and then click Select All. Now Click on Pictures and then click on Locations look and see if you can find My Pictures there should be two locations My Pictures and Public pictures.
I only keep my pictures in My Pictures but as I said you can call it anything you want if the file is missing. So for instance you could call it Home Pictures as you can always delete and add files. Create the folder name you want and then save it and then click on the empty file. Now click on Organize and click on Paste. All of your pictures will now be where you expect them to be but will also be in the other location too which isn't a bad thing really as you never know if you need a back up file or you can always delete it too if you want the extra space.
I have done this same thing between my desktop and my laptop through my network from my sharing center so I try to keep my picture files in more than one location if at all possible so they are never lost to fire, flood, theft etc.

He didn't move anything. Either it's included in Libraries or it's not. The path to My Pictures on my machine is C:\users\pulpo\my pictures. His path is C:\users\ken\my pictures where it belongs. If it's not included in the Library, which I think it is, he can include it. As I said, just click on the arrow next to Pictures, in Explorer. My Pictures is NOT a sub folder of Pictures, although that's how it appears.

Well it looked like he had accidentally moved his pictures as he didn't seem to know where they were exactly. If someone had access to his computer either someone who works there or his family the pictures could have been moved anywhere. It happened once to a friend of mine from church her housekeeper had been watching her put in her password and thought she would have fun with her files. Thankfully in both his case and my friends nothing was actually lost. The friend is up in age so she probably just didn't hear her as she approached.
Kmeyer could still create a different file folder and copy what he has just as back up. It will not hurt anything and if a mistake is made in a file being accidentally deleted or in editing that can't be reversed because it was saved then he has a back up. Up to him whatever he thinks is best for his computer.

That's why it's called a Personal Computer & not a Family Computer. I was fixing a Family Laptop recently. It was still a mess after Staples 'fixed' it for $320. I mentioned the concept of Personal Computer, to the woman which she understood so much so, she would turn to her husband, as I was asking her how she wanted things arranged & say "Personal Computer". She did that at least 3 times.
When someone watches you enter your password or PIN, it's called "shoulder surfing". That's why you see dots, on the screen.
As far as backups go for the OP's pictures, 2 external drives would be the first step. Never depend on just one drive. I'm not a fan of the cloud but an offsite backup is a good idea, as well.

After reading these posts I did some searching and I found the My Pictures folder. At some point when I was working with some files I think I accidently drag and dropped it somehow into the wrong place. I have put things back to the way I think they should be and every thing seems to be ok for now. I appreciate all the great responses I get from this forum it has been very helpful over the years. Thanks for the time that you guys take to answer these posts. And by the way as for the posted is comments about "personal computers" Mine is personnal and it is not shared by anyone. My wife uses it on rare occasions but she is very good about telling me if she things she did something wrong, she mostly only surfs. She does have her own laptop that she uses 99% of the time. I have seen too many people that have had their computers ruined by other "family" members. Heck, I have given my father in law 2 new computers over the last 5 or 6 years but no more. He allows his grown children access because he "can't" (or won't) say no, and they load all kinds of junk on them and surf sites that just invite infection. So I can definitely relate to "personal" computer term but that is not an issue for me. I there is something screwed up on my computer, chances are that I did it. Thanks again for the help.
