wireless router?

I am thinking about getting a new wireless router. Currently have a Belk in db600n. I am not sure where to go for research. I have up to 13 items using the router at any one time. Any thoughts on where to go for research?

I always liked Linksys even after Cisco bought them but then I heard but never confirmed that Cisco sold Linksys to Belkin. Thirteen devices are not a lot. A class C subnet goes up to 253.

Review:The Bad The Belkin N750 DB's 2.4GHz wireless speed and 5GHz range could be better, and its current firmware doesn't support IPv6. The router's vertical stand design, though eye-catching, makes it topple easily.

Is the range one of the reasons that you want a new router? I doubt that you need IPv6.

It really depends on what your needs are (speed, range, throughput, etc..) I have an Asus AC87U and it works great for me. It is a bit pricey but is pretty much top of the line right now.

I have a NAS and two desktops hardwired to it, and about 15 wireless devices (Laptops, phones, printers, gaming consoles, meida boxes etc..) and have no issues at all.

In the ned it comes down to how much you want to spend.

Right now I not real happy with how my router performs. It takes a VERY long time to transfer files within the network. I have a HTPC I would like to set up to stream movies that are on it to anywhere in my house. After about half the movie, it needs to buffer and load some more. The the router itself tends to drop offline and needs to be rebooted every few days. The 5ghz channels does not seem to like staying connected to anything. It will only connect to one device at a time and even if you are in the same room as the router, the connection is spotty.

bclacquer, if you are still following your post, keep in mind that any time that you are transferring files wirelessly, it's going to be slow. Movies are going to be slow even if it's a wired connection. just because of the size.

I'm currently running a Netgear R6300. Not one single complaint. Fast, easy to use and reliable.

I'm sure that Netgear is fine. My point is that when you transfer large files through any router, it's going to be a lot slower than a USB transfer. I have a feeling that the OP might be disappointed.

I recently bought a Linksys EA6900 AC1900 Smart WiFi router. I really like it and no complaints, either. It pretty much does everything automatically, unlike my old N model. Not real cheap, but I also have a lot of devices, so it makes life easier.
