SSD Optimize

SSD Optimize
Trying to fine tune my Windows 8.1 laptop I learned that optimizing SSD drives is recommended by MS to be turned ON for all drives and optimizing does not degraf SSD drives
Optimizing is accessible by rightclick on the drive letter and select Properties, click on the Tools tab and then click the Optimize button. I did this and although I did not noticed a speed increase, my used space went from 68.2GB down to 39.8GB. That’s a great space saving for me

The SSD is 128GB and as per this article
Why Windows 8 and 8.1 defragment your SSD and how you can avoid this – Đ’Đ°Đ´Đ¸Đ¼ Đ¡Ñ‚ĐµÑ€ĐºĐ¸Đ½
the OS only sends the TRIM command to SSD and defrag only happens when you include the SSD optimization in the Scheduled tasks

Fragmentation slows down a conventional hard drive primarily because the head stack must physically move to the proper track to read the target data. The actuator arm can only be in one place at a time, and in the case of a fragmented file, you find yourself have to wait for the heads to move between the multiple locations the file's fragments are stored in. SSDs lack the actuator arm's physical limitations because they have no moving parts, and they can read from multiple locations simultaneously. So the chief consequence of defragmenting an SSD is accelerated aging of the storage media.

I understand the problem of defragging a SSD but as per article in post #4 optimizing does not defragment the SSD. In amy case I only did it once and I plan not to do it again since I dont want to take any chances
