Logging into this site

This probably doesn't belong in this forum, but I couldn't find any information on this site. Is there a way to have your username retained when logging into this site? Ideally, like a 'Remember me' setting.

There is a check box "Remember Me" at the bottom of the log in. If that doesn't work try clearing cookies for this site and your cache. Try a different browser if that doesn't work.

As Ray said, there is a Remember Me checkbox so not seeing it is likely a browser issue.

That's interesting - in Google Chrome there is no Remember Me checkbox, but in Internet Explorer that I'm using right now there is.

Thanks

Remember me does not show from all clicked areas of DIY.

You need to try and log in from the forums menu...

Why would you want your password stored in your computer in any place other than the SAM file? That's just laziness & not secure.

That's not terribly helpful Pulpo. Maybe a short explanation would be more informative.

Sure, no problem. Actually, the "remember me" is not the dangerous part. It's when you allow the browser to save the password, to various sites. When a user does that he is storing his password in other places besides the SAM file (Security Accounts Manager). Your encrypted password to your computer is stored there. It can not be accessed while the PC is running. Passwords stored in your browser profile are more accessible.

Many people use the same user name & password everywhere. So, if I capture that info for one site, it may also be good for your online banking.

I wasn't trying to log in without entering a password, or allow the browser to save the password.

Maybe I misunderstood the question. I didn't mean without a password. I meant without typing the password or user name every time. Most people want to avoid that. To me, it's reckless.
