Forward & Backslash Keys

Forward & Backslash Keys
Sometimes when I use the forward slash key I get the French é É letters and when I use the backwards slash I get the French à À. Anyone knows why this happens
After I reboot all is normal again but I wonder why. I run windows 8.1 but the same happens with my older laptop which runs Vista Home

It sounds like you are hitting some key combination that is changing the language, on the keyboard. The next time it happens, type intl.cpl in the run box & press enter. See if the language changed. If not, something else got in there.

I doubt it its due to hitting a key combination because all letter keys are not changing.
Normally I put the laptop to sleep every night and during the day when I don’t use it and only reboot once or twice per week. I do the same for my Vista laptop and after a few days like that, these keys behave like I mentioned.
Not a big deal but I thought it could have been something common and I was curious. I just rebooted and all is normal now but next time it happens again I will do as you say Pulpo

All the keys don't have to change. Many of the letters are the same in most languages. You can also disable Advanced Text Services. That might help.
Why does Windows change the input language randomly? - Super User
Side note: Changing the language & changing it back again disabled one of the parental filters, some years ago. I don't remember what filter or if it still works. I just thought I would mention it.
