Win 10 latest update
Windows 10 latest update crippled my tablet.
The sound is totally cut off. Even though every thing says it's OK. Drivers are present, and everything is enabled.
Another strange item is the icon showing wireless connectivity is an airplane that signifies no connective. But yet I have full access to all wireless accounts.
And a friend of mine claims the update caused his MS Surface to give him the Blue Screen of Death.

Norm, I just had the upgrade, also. The airplane shows up at the bottom tray. When you hover over it, you are notified there is no connectivity. I turned my Wi-Fi button on and off a couple of times, and the airplane goes away. Connectivity is not lost. Only a leaking Microsoft brain.

I had trouble printing with my Lexmark printer on my laptop and I had to remove the driver software and then re-install it and it finally worked. I would try updating the drivers or even removing the sound driver if possible and then downloading the driver. I had to use compatibility mode for Windows Vista not Windows 7 to get my printer to work. So also trying to change the compatibility mode should work. I don't have a Windows tablet just a laptop and desktop so I can't guide you in changing those things I mentioned so I would Google it or Bing search it.

Yep, sound is fine. Are you turning off the wifi on your tablet, physically, or via software? I have a button that I can toggle on and off for it, so it is a physical disconnect.

Win 10 updated my computer overnight last night. MS seems to think it's cute to put messages in big print up on your screen when you wake up your computer like "We've updated your computer", "All your files are exactly where you left them", etc. It goes on for a couple of minutes and doesn't allow you to bypass it.
I swear I thought I had a virus. After the "All your files"... thing I was sure I was going to see something like "It's gonna cost you X to get them back" or something.
Not cute MS. Not cute at all. First time I'd seen this.

I agree with you wildbill7145 I don't care for the messages either and now there is no way to block updates like you could in the past, unless you disconnect your internet. Very few people can go without the internet for long as they need it for business or their home. If you could still block updates if you received a warning ahead of time from a forum like this then you might not have any problems like Norm201 is having. Supposedly Microsoft listened to its customers but apparently not very well. Windows 10 isn't terrible but it isn't real great either.

I just don't get what changes they made. I honestly don't see much difference from Win 7.
The messages I was getting this morning said there were big exciting changes, and it sounded like it was going to show me new stuff then just went to my regular desktop. Didn't show me a bloody thing.

I agree if they had any exciting changes they hid them very well didn't they? I think on one update I saw some new game installed but that was about it and that wasn't very exciting.

From an old dyed in the wool XP stalwart, W10 is nice. I didn't get any popups telling me how great the update was (or haven't yet). I did lose some of my desktop icons, but so far nothing really to write home about.

Norm, what brand tablet do you have? I never dealt with tablets. Can a keyboard be connected, to it? F2 is recommended on laptops.

I had an update recently (I think it was 1511) that was basically a new build - I lost a lot of settings and my start screen build.
This is not s surprise - like Pulpo, I maintained a lot of oversight on updates but we lost that control with this OS. I can only hope MS will give some of that back in the future but I'm not holding my breath....

I wouldn't hold my breath either. They made some pretty weird changes in 10. I've read that there was some change made to wifi settings that would allow email and I think Facebook contacts to access your wifi.
You have to go back through options or settings and make changes to reverse this. Personally, I couldn't care less but I sure know some people would.
