USB wall charger

How much is a reliable single port USB charger that won't go up in flames?

Shopping on Amazon and I'm leery of product with single digit reviews. Some reviews of cheaper units mention beware, heat and flames!

Don't want to spend $20 but don't want to burn the house down either.

Can anyone recommend a good, safe charger. It's just for an MP3 player so nothing fancy.

Thanks in advance...

It sounds like the $20 would be well spent. Didn't the MP3 Player come with a charger? Is the original charger still available?

No charger, just a cable to connect to the computer. I wouldn't have thought a good charger is $20 but if it is, so be it.

Voltage for these devices can vary a bit so I would be very careful in reading as much as you can about the voltage output. There is a device I heard about on Facebook that a friend of mine bought and can be plugged into the wall but some reviewers on Amazon.com said it damaged their Ipads. My friend and I both have Ipads so I just dismissed it from my mind and thought nothing more about it after I warned my friend not to use it to charge her Ipad. So I can't really recommend any chargers. If you can find a charger made by the manufacturer that would be ideal.

If you want a guarantee that the unit won't go up in smoke.... look for the UL label.

Since you're looking on Amazon anyway, I've had good luck with these:

Inexpensive and UL listed - and a 'brand' name.

Picked this up for $2.99, now $6.50. Seem like a decent quality unit and no flames yet.

Like I mentioned..... if it has a UL listing it is built to a higher standard then the basic junk that is plastered all over the net. The piece you linked does have the UL listing.

That was one criteria, but I'm still leery about a simple UL stamp coming from China.
