Using a VPN? (virtual private network)

I have been looking into a VPN. I currently have comcast internet and I download movies to stream to my tv but delete them when done. I stop the seeding after I download so I don't share the movie with other people etc.

I just want an extra layer of protection but don't know enough about it. Will it screw up my current wifi router etc. Anyone who can talk me through it would be great. I googled it but my head is spinning! HA

Thanks

If your downloading the movies legally you don't need extra protection.

Consumer-grade VPN's are fairly straightforward to setup and use. And it's pretty easy to discern from "shady" ones and legit ones.

Is it worth it?

I'd wait until my first warning letter before even looking into it.

You never really know which VPNs log & which don't. So, keep that in mind.
