Unable to transfer photos from phone to PC- Please help!

Hi all,
I have a Samsung S6 Android phone. This phone does not use a removable memory. I am trying to transfer my photos (about 1,200) from it into my PC. I have connected a USB cable between the devices, and my PC sees the phone, but cannot see the contents of the phone. How can I get these photos transferred? Google Cloud is full, and I refuse to give them any money to get more space, so it's no longer backing up my photos. Any help would be welcome.
Thanks,
Andy

You may have to do it in smaller spurts, like 50 at a time, but I really like Send Anywhere. Install it on both units and send from the phone and receive on the PC. I do it with construction pictures almost every day.

It is available on Google Play ( I use an Galaxy s5) and a W10 PC.

I donít have that phone but somewhere I read that you need to access the tray options on the phone and setup the USB interface for Camera Mode Ė something like that. Iím not sure I have that right but it wouldnít hurt to look for a USB option like that on the phone.

On my S7, after you connect the phone to your PC, you will see some options in the notification area (swipe down from the top).

Select
USB CHARGING
Tap here for more options

Then you get options for transferring files.

After this you should be able to see the phone files on your PC

I always use the "File Transfer" option then manually pick and choose what to copy/move.

You have to look in the directory of phone. One of those will have the pictures in it. If I get time today I will look at my phone and tell you which one it is. All pictures will transfer.

harvx is correct in pos #4 above. No additional drivers are needed. You have to swipe to the home screen after you connect the USB.

After the connections are made the phone shows as an icon that you can double-click. If you chose "File Transfer" you'll find the photos stored in the DCIM folder.

You could also move your photos from Google Cloud to a local hard drive. That would free up some space on the cloud for more photos, which could eventually all be transferred to a local hard drive.

Thanks everyone. I found the drop-down menu and enabled picture and video transfer. Everything showed up on my computer, and the transfer worked fine. Took awhile to move 1400 pictures and videos though!

Yeah took me a while to figure out where the file transfer option on my s6 was too.

Miss having an SD card, though. I am already running out of phone space.

One nice feature of the S7 is that they not only brought back the SD card but also threw in a 256GB card so space is not a problem. Now, if they could just bring back the replaceable battery (and not have it explode).

Replaceable battery is another thing I miss!

I heard that they want to take away the headphone jack for the s8. I mostly use a bluetooth right now, but honestly, if they do away with SD, battery, and jack, it might as well be an iPhone and I'd have to start looking at HTC or some other brand.

You should have google photos... and auto backup. That way your photos would be in the cloud and available on every device.

Are you sure that you want to recommend the cloud?
