Win 10 computer protection

Hello
I realize Win 10 firewall is not the best unless configured so I rely on it with the firewall within my router.

For a/v I am undecided whether I should use the native Defender which scores low or Avast free which scores better. I seem to like Avast but would like an opinion.

Please, I have done plenty of reading so I ask for no other program suggestions and thank you.

Many of the folks here think that antivirus is a waste these days, there aren't any good products out there, and there are way too many new viruses every day for these products to keep up. For my money, I just use MS Defender. (I used to use AVG, but have stopped installing it)

I know you asked for no other recommendations, but I wouldn't install a computer without MalwareBytes installed on it. I don't usually configure it to run all the time, but if something starts acting flakey, it's nice to be able to run it and let it clean up any outstanding malware.

I use both Avast and malewarebytes. I'm not pc smart enough to know how much they help but I don't have any issues with my pc.

I've used both Avast and Defender and find them to be pretty much equal. Don't know where Defender scored low. Don't agree with that.
I also use SuperAntiSpyware.

I was mistaken I used to use malwarebytes but had an issue with it not updating properly [could have been on my end] and switched to SuperAntiSpyware. I always use the free editions

Or just don't use Windows Os. Both Mac and Linux have such a small market share they aren't usually targeted for Viruses or Malware. Cheapest route is Linux since it is free as is software.

I agree with the Linux security but don't care for their various Linux distros.
I tried them all.
